One of the numerous little forts that the Ottomans built in the 19th century, after 1866, in order to control the interior highlands of Crete.
This fort is on a hill right above the Dam of Potamoi at its western side. This region was a passage from the coast to the inland of Rethymno district. The Turks had guarded the pass with three forts.
The shape of the fort is a rectangle 25m✖8m. The external walls are preserved to some degree.
