Giannoudi is 6.5 km southeast of Rethymno. At the entrance of the village there is a 3-storey tower. The tower must have been the house of a local lord and it was built, most probably around the end of the 17th or the beginning of the 18th century.
The earliest documented reference to the village dates back to 1577. There are no references about the tower.
