The first impression is that there is a castle at the top of the village. The second impression is that there are just some houses around the top of the hill forming a fortified position. The fact is that the tower houses are built over the remains of a medieval town and a byzantine castle.
And not only a byzantine castle. The acropolis of the ancient city Tefthroni was there. The village is first mentioned in the St Magno chronicle in 1463. The name Loukades appears in 1700
