A tower on a hill above the settlement of Kalivia Sohas in Laconia, next to Amykles, 7 km south of Sparta, at the entrance of an imposing gorge, in the eastern reefs of Taygetos.

It is believed to be a Late-Byzantine tower, which means that it was probably built in the 14th or 15th century. However, there is no more information. The tower is not mentioned from historical sources, while it seems that it has never been the subject of archaeological study (as far as we know).

It is preserved at a sufficient height. Its layout is a rectangle measuring 7.20✖5.10 m. Remains of a fortified enclosure at a low height can be seen in the area around the tower.

It should be noted that higher than the tower, on the mountain behind it, deeper in the gorge, there are remains of the medieval castle-settlement of Soha (not included in Kastrologos yet). Apparently the tower was part of the castle’s defense system.
In the photos 5 and 6, the location of this castle is on the impressive rock at the right side of the gorge (the castle itself, however, is not visible).
From Kalivia of Soha starts a stone-paved path that passes through the tower and reaches the castle of Soha, high in the mountain.
