A cave with fortification on the slope of a steep hill southwest of the village of Krinofyta, Kalavryta.
We do not know anything about the history of this castle cave. Not even its historical name.
This type of fortified caves served as a refuge for the local population during the Turkokratia. It is also very likely that this particular castle cave in Krinofyta was the lair of one of the so-called kleftes.
The most likely time of construction is around the 18th century – perhaps a little earlier or a little later.
It is interesting that the fortification of this cave has many similarities with the fortification of the cave fort of Priolithos which is located relatively close by (14 km to the southeast).
