Ruins of a tower atop the hill Agios Ionannis northwest of the settlement Kallithea (old name “Kani”) near Kleitoria, in the Kalavryta municipality of Achaea.
We know nothing about the history of this tower. The presence of mortar in its construction indicates that it is not an ancient building. Also, it does not seem to be Φrankish or Ottoman. So we could say that it was Byzantine without being able to be more specific about its chronology.
The tower is almost square measuring 5.50✖5.10m. The thickness of the walls is 1.30m except in the western side where it is 1.40m. It is preserved at a maximum height of 1m at its SW side. Around the tower there are the foundations of two rectangular building of the same period.
