A byzantine castle-city 30km south of Tripoli.
The castle is 1 km from the Monastery of Agios Nicolaos of Kaltezes. There is a dirt road from the monastery to the castle which at the end becomes a rough and difficult-to-spot mountain path.
The settlement used to have a population of around 2000. There are signs that it was inhabited since antiquity but there are no signs of activity in the late Byzantiine-period and later.
One can see ruins of the walls and several buildings, mostly churches. At the top there is a tower and a water tank.
