The area “Koila” is located in a mountainous region east of the village Pitios and west of Kardamyla of Chios island, at an altitude of 500 meters with stunning view to Inouses islands and the opposite coast of Asia Minor
In Koila there was a settlement that was inhabited in antiquity (mentioned by Herodotus) and the Byzantine period.
At the top of the hill are the remains of the “tower of Koila”. It is not sure it was really a tower but despite the poor condition, is the only remnant of the rest of the settlement amid stone piles of rubble and other indistinct ruins.
For the chronology we can not be sure, but it was probably a Byzantine contruction.
