A Frankish castle on the top of a high rock between the villages Lantzounato and Paleokastro in Trifylia county of Messinia, in southwestern Peloponnese
The castle has two levels, the best preserved being the upper level. Its layout is a rectangular with 4 towers.
History
It was built around the end of the 13th century. This was probably the castle mentioned in the sources as castle of the Savior (Saint Sauver). Nicolas Le Maure was its first lord in 1297. The castle was among the forts handed over to the Despot of Mystras Constantine Paleologos in 1428.

Approach to the monument: |
The castle is 28km from Kyparissi (from NR to Pylos, turn left to Sella) and 48km from Kalamata (from NR to Pylos, turn right in Messini). From the foot of the hill there is a 300m dirt road to the castle. |
