Ambelko is a village on the slopes of mountain of Lesbos. At the center of the village there is a narrow, tall tower, a relic of the Genoan period of the island.
The tower is 16m high today, but it used to be 27m. It was modified and shortened for safety reasons in 1830.
The general consensus is that the tower is Genoan. However, many architectural elements indicate that it is very possible it was constructed much later, during the Turkish occupation.
