|
A coastal cylindrical watchtower on the cliffs east of Finikounda bay of the peninsula of Messinia.
Its primary role was to facilitate the communication between the two major fortresses of the area: Koroni and Methoni .
The chronology is uncertain. Probably it was built by the Venetians in the 13th or the 14th century at the same period that the castles of Methoni and Koroni were fundamentally renovated. It must have been part of the defensive system of the area together with other watchtowers on the coast.
