Remains of the fortification of the monastery of Agios Andreas on the island of Agios Andreas off the northwestern coast of Zakynthos island. The little island together with another small islet form a small group called “Diaporia”.
The monastery was founded in 1595 by Ioannis Theodosis. It flourished for about 100 years (maybe less) but then it was abandoned due to pirate raids. It is built with stones from the island and mortar as a binding material.
