Ruins of a Venetian small watchtower atop a hill named “Imerovigli” (meaning day-watch) 2.5km northeast of the village Volimes of northern Zakynthos. This type of small watchtowers in the Ionian islands is usually called vardiola although this one is different, being cylindrical. There are at least 10 Venetian vardiolas in Zakynthos.
This vardiola at an altitude of 550m overlooks the coastline of the northern part of the island and the sea up to Kefalonia.
The diameter of the vardiola is 3.70m and the thickness of its wall 0.70m. The maximum preserved height is 1.5m.
