The castle is located on a hill 800m NW from the village Armolia of Chios. It was built in 1440 by the Genoan Nicolo Banca Gustiniani, according to an inscription at the gate.
The layout of the castle is a trapezoid. It has 62 rooms, a rain tank , a main tower and some others and the corners.
The castle can be reached after a short walk from the square of the village taking a 800 m path without special difficulty.
