The castle of Agios Andreas is one of the three castles of the city of Preveza and is located in the northern part of the city very close to the port. Two centuries ago, when it was built, it was at the seashore.
History
Preveza is loacated in a strategic but vulnerable position and, for this reason, its fortification was important.
The Ottoman Turks were the first who fortified the city on the 15th century. Their first fortress was the castle of Buca which was later destroyed and the materials were used to build the castles of Agios Andreas and Agios Georgios.

Approach to the monument: |
Easily accessible being at the center of the city of Preveza. There is a street to a square (or public parking) with deserted buildings on the top, which somehow is the interior of the castle. |
Entrance: |
Free entrance to a place which has nothing to do with the interior of a castle. Don’t bother… |
