Remains of a Venetian castle atop the hill Koraki above the inland village Aperio in Karpathos.
The castle was built in the 14th century. Between 1315 and 1537 Karpathos was a fief of the Crete-based Venetian family of Kornaros. The castle was probably their mansion and the administration center of the island.
The castle most probably remained in use for a long period after the Ottoman conquest as a refuge.
