Sokastro is a small islet off the west coast of Karpathos, opposite the village Lefkos.
On the rocky uninhabited island there are remains of a fortified byzantine settlement. There are also other elements with archaeological interest but the place has never been researched. So there is no info available about the medieval ruins on it.
The island was the base of the fleet of general Nikiphoros Phocas (later a Byzantine emperor) in his campaign for the reconquest of Crete in 960.
