Scattered remains of a castle on one of the peaks of mount Karvouni in Samos. It was built in the period that the Arabs started their raids in the Aegean which means that it is a construction of the 7th or the 8th century. It was used by the local population as a refuge and an observatory of the sea.
The dimensions of the castle are 380x120 meters and it is located on a plateau at the top. There are some remains of the wall, of the gate and of one church which was most probably dedicated to Saint Lazarus, hence the name of the castle and of the peak.
