It is the oldest and better preserved fortified monastery dependency of Northern Greece and the last remaining part of the medieval town of Kritziana.
History
The complex was founded in 1530. The abbot at that time was Theonas, later bishop of Thessaloniki.

Approach to the monument: |
On the NR Thessaloniki-Chalkidiki, take the exit to Mesimeri. Follow the signs to Epanomi. It is located in the middle of the distance Mesimeri-Epanomi a little after the junction to Heracleia. |
Entrance: |
The monument is not guarded and it is easy to enter despite the fence which does not prevent access. |
