The monastery of Taxiarches is 15km south of Aigio in Achaea, at the foot of mount Klokos.
The monastery was built in the beginning of the 17th century. The tower was built at the same time.
The tower might have been just a bell-tower. If so, it was a huge bell-tower. In any case, its role was definitely defensive too.
