Ruins of a small tower, probably a watchtower, atop a conical hill in the area of Anavyssos, in south Attica.
The hill is in a location called Katafygi which means refuge. Remains of a medieval settlement from the 11th-14th century have been found nearby.
Perhaps the tower existed before the creation of the settlement. Its position offers a possibility for the observation of the shore from a safe distance inland. It does not seem to be a Frankish neither an Ottoman construction. We assume it was from the Byzantine period, before the 13th century.
