Parikia is the capital of the island of Paros. It is also called Chora or just Paros.
There is no real castle in Parikia of Paros, just a picturesque neighborhood named “kastro” (meaning castle) where there are some walls and remains of a tower that used to be part of the castle. Even today, one can still see specks of an ancient temple, perhaps the temple of Demeter, which once stood here.
The castle was built by the Venetians in 1260, when Paros belonged to the Duchy of Naxos.
