A tower above the village Palaiopyrgos of Trikala. It is covered by a (modern) tiled roof and this is the reason that the monument does not give the impression of a medieval tower. It is surrounded by other constructions: a chapel (Agios Achilios), a gate and a wall. The complex looks like a monastery but it was not.
The research of the site has revealed that the tower was the oldest building. The other constructions were added later in different periods.
It was built shortly after 1366, the year that the permit was granted by the Serb ruler of the region of that period.
The height of the tower today is 4 meters. Its layout is a rectangular 6.60x8.50m. The thickness of the walls is about 1.6m.
