Lialaia was an ancient place, one of the cities that took part in the Trojan war. Near the modern village Lilaia there is a large archaeological site with remains of the fortifications of the ancient city.
Amongst other ruins, at the acropolis of the ancient city there are the remains of a Frankish tower. The Franks used materials from the ancient buildings and repaired the tower to be used as a 3-storey house for a local lord (probably).
