The castle is no the waterfront of the Karystos town in South Evia. It was built by the Venetians in 1350.
It is a two-storied building in an hexagonal horseshoe shape. The Venetians used for the construction limestone and marbles from the nearby Roman Mauseleum.
It is in good condition and in the summer its is used for various cultural events.
