A tower-house in the town of Florina. It is referred as “defensive tower” but actually it was primarily a mansion.
We do not know when exactly it was built. It belongs certainly to the Ottoman period, built, probably around the end of the 18th century when the town, under the rule of Ali pasha, started to develop fast.
It is a square building measuring 6.80✖6.82 m. Its height today is 4.75m.
In Florina there was another similar mansion, a little bigger, that was demolished in 1930. From old pictures of that koules, we get an idea of how this one might look in better days.
