Agistro is the northernmost village of Central Macedonia, close to the borders with Bulgaria. The center of the village is dominated by the clock tower.
The tower is actually a byzantine tower of the 14th century at the top of which an expansion was built, much later, to accommodate the clock.
The tower was used as a prison by the Ottomans. The supports of the gallows are still visible at the top of each corner.
