An ancient citadel -"Acropolis of Echinos"- which went under many modifications and fortification works through the ages.
What remains today is some ruins of the walls on the hill and inside the village, as well as a tower, in relatively good condition, from the Frankish period.

Approach to the monument: |
Exit from the NR Athens-Thessaloniki in Raches or in Karavomylos and drive to the village of Achinos. There are road signs to the citadel which is on a hill above the village. You have to walk the last 100 m to the tower and more to the rest of the ruins. |
